Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS)
Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 (Competitive)
The Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Director to oversee the financial operations of the organization. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the fiscal integrity, compliance, and efficiency of CLAS while providing professional support to leadership, staff, and members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management (preferred)
Strong working knowledge of financial statement preparation and general ledger oversight
Proficiency in Excel
Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective financial procedures and controls
High-level auditory, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, business partners, colleagues, and the public
Working knowledge of investment accounts and their related journal entries
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Responsibilities
Oversee general ledger and financial statement preparation
Reconcile and maintain accounts with proper documentation
Prepare and process journal entries accurately and timely
Manage cash flow and account reconciliations
Oversee check deposits and ensure accuracy of payments posted across varied software platforms
Prepare financial reports for leadership and stakeholders
Reconcile accounts receivable and coordinate collections
Oversee payroll administration for the organization
Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, ensuring timely audits and documentation readiness
Supervise staff in the finance department and support their professional growth
Provide strategic insight and assist with sound financial decisions for the organization
Maintain a positive public image while representing CLAS in all interactions
Work well in a collegial fashion with a team of collaborative professionals
Assist with conferences and other association-related events as needed
Utilize Sage accounting software in daily operations
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director
Additional Information
Reports To: The Executive Director of CLAS
Evaluation: The Finance Director will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director
