  • Function of Position VOICES for Alabama’s Children, a leading statewide non-profit child advocacy organization, seeks an energetic and passionate individual responsible for providing leadership around all aspects of VOICES for Alabama’s Children’s fundraising and related external communications. The candidate must develop and lead implementation of the organization’s fund development plan. The candidate must also manage and lead efforts to support and advance the mission of VOICES through donor solicitation and stewardship, fundraising activities including special events, grant writing and grant management, and funder relationships. The desired candidate will be one who thrives in a high energy and fast-paced environment. Classification This is a full-time exempt position. Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities  Develop, update and lead the implementation of VOICES’ strategic fund development plan in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan;  Track and communicate outcomes of the fund development plan;  Promote VOICES to potential funders and the wider community;  Provide direction and work collaboratively with staff and board members on a coordinated donor stewardship strategy that builds and enhances relationships with established and prospective donors in order to maximize funding;  Provide direction and work collaboratively with staff and board members to recruit and develop organizational and agency membership;  Research and develop new major donors, family foundations, and local grant opportunities, and incorporate those into the development plan;  Work collaboratively with the Communications Manager to write compelling and strategic fundraising communications that align with our strategic communications plan;  Create a strategy for, and provide strong direction of VOICES’ annual giving, online giving, direct mail, management of donor information database, production of thank you notes, and other tasks related to development;  Create sponsorship levels for VOICES’ annual Child Advocacy Day and Kids Count Rally and obtain sponsors to cover expenses associated with event;  Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop new fundraising events across the state;  Actively use development databases and systems to drive efficient and responsible donor relations, as well as track solicitations and donations received;  Provide direction to and support for grant development and grant stewardship;  Responsible for oversight of the overall grant calendar, grant application and reporting deadlines and tracking of all grant deliverables;  Supervise, guide and develop appropriate staff who engage in donor relations, grants, special events and related activities;  Steward existing and potential donors, keeping them informed on VOICES’s work and progress through face-to-face visits, intentional follow up and purposeful invitations to events most meaningful to the donor;  Other duties to advance the mission of VOICES as needed. Qualifications and Job Requirements  B.A. or equivalent experience and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in fund development;  Deep knowledge of fundraising vehicles and experience in implementing a variety of development strategies, with a demonstrated history of managing fundraising programs;  Experience in successfully cultivating and stewarding donors;  Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives including but not limited to: colleagues, partners, stakeholders, and supporters;  Experience in successfully preparing grant proposals and reports;  Experience engaging, coordinating and managing volunteers;  Excellent communication skills; ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences;  Ability to travel statewide to visit prospects and donors;  Established relationships with Alabama-based foundations and corporate donors or proven ability to develop such relationships;  Flexible, innovative, energetic, and able to work as a member of a larger team;  Ability to work with colleagues in an inclusive manner that demonstrates openness to differing perspectives and experiences;  Commitment to supporting a culture of continuous improvement and organizational excellence;  Commitment to the mission and work of VOICES for Alabama’s Children.
