About The Event
Join us for September’s Lunch & Learn and hear the latest on Mobile’s new bridge project and other major transportation projects planned to help move Alabama’s economy forward. Yes, we have been talking about the new I-10 bridge for years, yes it will be expensive and yes, it will take years to complete the project even if we started today. Governor Ivey doesn’t back down from major political issues. She may be just the right person to push this through. BTW, Director Cooper doesn’t bend to political pressure either. Together, these two may be what it takes for Alabama to get a new bridge and lots of addition improvements as well.
John R. Cooper came out of retirement to serve as Alabama’s Transportation Director effective January 17, 2011. From 2002 to 2008, John was Chief Executive Officer of Avocent Corporation in Huntsville, a global provider of information technology infrastructure management; he was chairman of Avocent from 2003 to 2008.
John has a business background that has seen him serve as a CEO, CFO, Corporate Vice President and as a partner in large accounting firms. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Alabama.
